Presentation ideas and Final Piece

  • Nail images to wood
  • clip images to wire- bulldog clips
  • Canvases
  • Inside bottles
  • light behind canvas?

One of my ideas for my final presentation piece what to use a piece of wood to nail my images into. However, before I could nail my images down I needed to decide whether or not I wanted the image straight,  creating order within the images, or if I wanted them at different angles, suggesting the images are a bit more chaotic. I tried out both ways allowing me to see what I thought worked best. In the end I decided to go with the straight layout as I felt they fit onto the board a bit better and it was easier to properly view the images.

Once I had decided on what order I was going to layout my images in, I started to nail them down. I used different sized nails as well as placed them in different parts of the image to create more depth within the product. I decided to experiment with nails as a way to present my final images as I felt they represented the rough, untouched aspect of what night can be like. Rather than being banged all the way in to perfection, some of the nails are wonky and some were rusty creating a disorder to my images that you often see at night, shown through my images. However, once I had experimented with the nails, I decided that I was not going to use them to present my final images as they didn't fully get my theme across. Even though I thought it was an interesting and ascetically interesting way to present my images, the meaning didn't go any deeper than that which I want it to with my final presentation.

The second experimental presentation idea I tried was with bulldog clips and wire. I hung the wire to create a washing line and then clipped my images to the wire. It created an effect almost like that in which you see in the dark room when the prints are hung to dry. I decided to try this idea just to experiment and see what it would look like, however I decided not to go with it as it was a basic presentation idea, when I wanted to do something more meaningful. Furthermore I was presented with complications when the images all started to slide and gather in the middle of the wire as a result of the weight not being evenly distributed.

My final presentation idea was to create a collage of all the things I have collected at night, such as leaflets and tickets. The collage would then become the background to my collection of images which I mounted on foam board, making them 3d and able to stand out against the colourful collage. The collage consisted of things such as theatre tickets, advertisement leaflets that I have collected in which clubs and bars advertise their nights, and bus tickets that I have used to journey home at nighttime. I have decided to use this as my final presentation idea as I feel it combines all the different aspects of night that I have explored within my images, as well as creating a deeper meaning for my final presentation. Furthermore, the contrast between the black and white of my images and the colour of the background create an interesting visual to the final product.
